Joanna Angel (born December 25, 1980 in Brooklyn, New York) is an entrepreneur, altporn model, adult film actress, director, writer, and former exotic dancer.

Joanna was raised in an Orthodox Jewish household, but attended a public high school. After graduating at age 17 she enrolled in Rutgers University, where she earned a Bachelor of

Arts degree in English Literature with a minor in Film Studies.

After finishing her degree she created the website Burning Angel, a hardcore adult site catering to an emerging genre dubbed "altporn". Her website followed in the footsteps of the very popular Suicide Girls, but offers more explicit sexual imagery.

Joanna has written, produced, directed and starred in films available exclusively through Burning Angel as well as appeared in more traditionally distributed adult films. She is currently under an exclusive contract with VCA Pictures which expires March of 2007, and was at one time represented by the adult talent agency Bad Ass Models.

Due to the success of Burning Angel Joanna has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers, including a recent article written for the New York Times. She was nominated in 2006 for the Adult Video News Awards for both "Best New Starlet" and "Best Actress", and although she won neither, she did take home the award for "Most Outrageous Sex Scene" for her appearance in Re-Penetrator.

In June 2006 she began writing a monthly column for Spin Magazine. The column is of a sexual advice format, with readers of the magazine writing in problems and questions which Joanna answers. She has also contributed a chapter to the book Naked Ambition: Women Pornographers and How They Are Changing the Sex Industry.
