| Welcome dear readers to the Valentines Day Pipeline. I hope the early days of 2001 have been kind to you all. Thank you for taking time out of your post Super Bowl, overstuffed caloric coma to read what I've got for you this month.
Speaking of the big game, how many of you cleaned up by betting on the Giants/Ravens as the pre-season winner of the big game? Of course, after the game, I'm sure we all tuned in to see the second season of Survivor and I know I'm not the only one who noticed a huge change in the look of the cast. Last year we had to struggle to find more than one or two girls worth a tumble, but this year, the Outback based reality show is crawling with porn fantasy girls.
As always, I began my year making a trek across the desert to lovely Las Vegas for the CES show. This year, the adult portion of the show was separate from the electronics floor. Re-named, The Adult Expo and sponsored by AVN, the show suffered through some first year glitches, but basically went quite well. I've logged a full report for you to read, but I'll touch on a few highlights.
The most fun area of the floor was between the AVN and Extreme booths. With tensions between the two camps at an all time high, the twenty feet between booths was not enough to contain the bad blood. On a happier note, I spent much of the show working on interviews to share with you all.
In the not too distant future look for interviews with Daisy Chain, Taylor St. Claire, Paige Saintclaire, Charlene Aspen, Lizzy Borden, Alek Hidel, Luciano, Tricia Devereaux, Mike South, McKayla Matthews, Justine Romee, Aurora Snow and Lexington Steele.
One of the highlights of the show is the AVN Awards.
The big winners of the night were Sin City's 'Watchers' and New Sensations' 'Dark Angels.' Taking top performer honors were Jewel De'Nyle, Evan Stone and Tera Patrick (Best New Starlet). Jenna Jameson hosted the evening and threw out a few jabs at her former boss Steve Ornstein of Wicked Pictures.
Also high on the hit list was for AVN Editor Gene Ross, who was called "the cancer" by Paul Fishbien.
After a long and successful partnership, Max Hardcore and Legend have parted ways.
According to both sides, the split was amicable and not an ill word was muttered. (To the disappointment of scandal hungry porn fans everywhere.) Speculation was high at first that Legend was dropping Max to avoid coming into the crosshairs of new administration.
Now the speculation centers around where Max will go now. Many feel that he will simply move on to distribute his own stuff. (Gee, I wonder if I'll be getting screeners.) Other rumors have him signing with Evil Angel, Anabolic or even Extreme. (Wouldn't that be a lot of fun.)
Cherry Mirage is about to release the fifth title in her 'Under the Cherry Tree' series. The all girl line has taken a turn for the better since Cherry has taken greater control. Still, there is great speculation that when her contract is over, Cherry could be trading up. The list of companies still in the hunt is quite long and include Metro, OGV and VCA.
Speaking of VCA's talent roster, it just keeps getting bigger.
Last month, they announced the signings of two high profile and totally sexy new contract babes. First it was Chloe to put her name on the line. It's about time someone locked Chloe up and turned her loose both in front of and behind the camera. Following that signing, VCA grabbed up Julie Meadows, taking her off the market. Personally, I hope they take full advantage of these two, giving us lots of titles to enjoy.
Chloe added a second contract this month as well. With the ink of her VCA deal still drying, Chloe signed a toy distribution deal with Las Vegas Novelties. Taking advantage of her obvious charms and skills, the line will be anal in nature. Just think, now everyone can enjoy the thrill of nailing this firecracker in the backdoor. (Without ever leaving the comfort of your home.) Joining a company that already boasts stars like Serenity, Jaclyn Lick and Lee Stone, Chloe is the most recent big name to sign, but others may be joining that list very soon.
It's been a matter of days since the new administration has taken office and already the powers that be in porn are taking full advantage of paranoia in the ranks. The so called Cambria List has been issued to porn companies. It outlines a number of guidelines for companies to follow in order to avoid coming under fire from the Bush Administration.
Most controversial on the list is a call for an end to interracial scenes depicted on the covers of movies. This suggestion would be laughable if it weren't so unbearable insulting. Anyone who thinks that the new President has such a racist agenda in mind really needs to find something better to do with his time. This whole list sounds more like a way for the big companies to scare distributors away from small productions. They did the same thing a few years ago by using the HIV scare to call for mandatory condom use in every production.
Knowing this would cripple the smaller companies who cater to the raincoat market, the corporate porn companies were hoping to control distribution. Thankfully, that plan was foiled by market demand. This new list of restrictions smells like the same brand of horseshit, only this time, it comes in a fear mongering, hateful and racist package. Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
Kristi Myst is now an Ex-Extreme Girl, calling it quits and leaving the company that resurrected her career. Kristi appeared at the Extreme booth during CES and like the rest of the company, was shut out when it came award time. Her decision to leave the company comes after her biggest year in the business.
I guess Thomas Zupko will have to find another pretty girl to anally abuse in his movies. The hot rumor is that Jewel De'Nyle is at the top of the list to replace her on the Extreme team.
The hottest contract rumor of the new year involves porn's answer to Alex Rodriguez, Jenna Jameson.
After finally ending her long time relationship with Wicked, Jenna has agreed to do a My Plaything DVD for Digital Sin. After that, it's anyone's guess where she might end up. Obviously, the name at the top of the list is Vivid. They have the money and the high profile to pay her what she's going to demand and don't you know that it would be an extra twist of the knife if she ended up with the big V?
Jill Kelly Productions has hit the ground running at full speed. In just a few short months, they have put together an impressive team of contract performers that included Jill, Julian and Haven. Their first few titles are available now, though I have yet to get my hands on any of them. The new company has also jumped right on board by releasing some of their titles on DVD and video at the same time. There was speculation at the CES show that there may be two very big names added to the team very shortly, so stay tuned. This could get good.
Kendra Jade has taken a few steps back from porn films. She is focusing on mainstream films and recording. With some acting and voice lessons, Kendra hopes to expand her horizons and even release a CD of her music shortly.
Though he was mysteriously overlooked as Best Male Performer at the AVN awards, Lexington Steele is still doing quite well.
During our recent interview, Lex talked about his new line of videos to be released by Anabolic video. The line is called 'Balls Deep' and will star beautiful young women being filled by some of the biggest cocks in the business.
Well dear reader, that is all the news that's fit to print for this month. (And probably some that isn't.) I trust you will all stock up on plenty of hot movies to keep you warm this winter. Since we here in California are facing a dire power shortage, Mrs. Rog and I plan to cut down on our heating costs by making our own warmth.
