While some Vivid girls have a reputation of being cold (A reputation in many cases, richly deserved.) most of them were quite friendly this year. Taylor, as yet not affected by Vivid gloss, was as wild and fun as ever. Let's just hope her on screen performances are equally unchanged.
Kobi and Heather are always more than friendly, even when Kobi had to correct me for my incorrect report about the breakup of her marriage. (Sorry about that Kobi.)
Racquel, just six months after the birth of baby, looks great, but says she has no immediate plans to get back in front of the camera.
Dyanna Lauren also looked great and graciously took the time to read the entire "Bad Wives" review, even laughing at references to her "non Vivid- like" performance.
Chasey Lain vanished after the first day of the show, amidst unconfirmed rumors that she was sent home by company officials. What was her big sin? No clue. Maybe she broke her contract and actually looked like she was enjoying herself.
"It's total BS." She said. "Find who started it and squash them for me." Finally, Janine's bandaged wrist caused some concern until she revealed that it was not an injury, but the first of several laser treatments she will endure to get her large wrist tattoo removed. "I saw it in a magazine" she commented "and just freaked. It has to go." I couldn't agree more.
New Vivid Girl, Tia Bella has done five films already but none have hit the shelves yet. Her career in adult films begins as a V Girl and the busty brunette says that she will be with Vivid for the length of her career. How long that will be is anyone's guess at this point.
Jenteal was in a much better mood this year than last. She looks as fantastic as ever and had the friendly disposition to go with it. We discussed her extensive dance tour, new web site and tentatively scheduled a sit down interview for later this winter.
Sunset's husband Zach was there as well. I just love the fact that this marriage is still going strong six plus years into the business. It's a tribute to their love and commitment.
Max Hardcore was at the Legend booth, wearing an outfit that stood out for all the wrong reasons. Max, in his all white, fringe covered cowboy suit looked more like a refuge from a pre-Clint western than a highly controversial sex film maker. Still, he was the star of the booth, playing to his audience of adoring fans. Clearly, Max is the hook upon which the Legend hat now rests.
Funny, in pig tails, Katie looks not unlike Barbie, who looked not unlike Tammi Ann. Have we discovered a trend? Regardless, Katie was every bit the tease Barbie was, showing off playfully and obviously enjoying the attention. However, she was a little miffed at having to share a table with a new Euro-babe. "She's such a cunt." Katie was overheard barking. "She flashes the guys so they expect me to do it, and when I don't I look like a bitch."
More calm were Morgan Fairlane and Melissa Hill. Morgan sporting a new do, promised some great projects for 98. Melissa, who did some incredible work in 97, is a Performer of the Year award away from achieving the superstar status I personally granted her a long time ago.
Somehow, though, I think that worries her about as much as not having an Oscar keeps Tom Cruise up at night. Did I hear someone say "Show me the money."
Video Team stepped up into the big leagues this year with a bigger booth and whole team of girls to emphasize the Afro-Centric theme.
Midori, Naomi, Crystal, Dee and Mr. Marcus were on hand to keep fans of dark skinned ladies very happy. Video Team had some of the best material this year, stunning 8x10 shots of the girls on thick stock. Midori, an internet regular, was as sweet and kind in person as she has been in our email conversations.
This woman is a superstar in the first degree and it's high time the whole porn watching world knew it.
Taylor Wane was on hand, with a new spelling of her last name, (to match her web site.) and an even bigger set of tits. Hard to believe it's been nearly a decade since I first met this woman.
Sid Deuce, who writes a regular column for HEVG, you know, one of those print 'zines, seems to be burning bridges right and left. Not only is she taking every possible shot at former more than friend Jay Ashley, but Sid also sharpened her claws on one time best pal Kaitlyn Ashley. "I haven't talked to Kaitlyn since she lost her mind." She said in reference to Kaitlyn's recent retirement.
Not quite as reserved was bad girl Mila. With she and Rod Fontana in the same booth, it was a bit of a minefield for me. Luckily neither of them actually recognized me, thus saving me from certain bodily harm. Trouble is, I had to go to the booth to talk with the ever charming Allysa Allure. I just did so with one eye looking over my shoulder. Oh, the perils of being honest.
Asia Carrera was one of the people I really wanted to talk to, and happily I finally got the chance. We have exchanged email for two years now, with an up and down relationship to say the least. She once wrote me a chilly email after I branded her boring in some early reviews. Since then, her work has impressed me and my reviews reflect the great changes.
Our meeting was quite pleasant. She even paid me the second best compliment of the show. "You're not at all what I expected." She said, looking rather astonished. "I was expecting you to be like other reviewers, fatter, older and with less hair." Asia is beautiful, charming and showed quite a sense of humor. A perfect example was her off the cuff signing of an ad in AVN which shamelessly attacks her personally. Rather than stoop to the level of the coward who placed the ad, she laughed it off.
Good advice to us all. Perhaps if we ignore the racists at the PARC, they will finally get the clue and go away.
She stood over a ballot box where fans could vote on whether or not she should get a boob job. All voters were entered into a drawing for free Elegant Angle titles as well as a date with Tiffany. Of course, I had to vote, just to have my voice heard. (It has nothing to do with a date with my choice for Performer of the Year, honest.)
The actual Performer of the Year winner, Stephanie Swift was all smiles as she greeted her fans. Her Elegant Angel contract is up, making Ms. Swift the most sought after free agent in the adult market. Regardless of where she ends up, let's hope we see a lot of her in 98.
Last, but nowhere near least, was Seymore Butts. Not only did he bring along hit ultra hot Tushy Girls, but Seymore also paid me the best compliment of the show. "Roger T Pipe." He said, introducing me to someone. "This guy writes the best reviews on the net." Modesty prevents me from agreeing with Seymore, but suffice it to say, I wish I had my tape rolling for that one.
