Film Noir Movie

Film Noir Description: "By 1946, Orson Welles was already known as a great director. In Hollywood, he was also known as difficult. The Stranger was designed to change that impression. With a script by Anthony Veiller (and John Huston and Welles, both uncredited) and a great cast (Loretta Young, Edward G. Robinson and himself as a Nazi war criminal), Welles behaved himself and put together a top notch thriller (with cridit due to cinematographer Russell Metty). Reportedly, Welles' original cut ran well over two hours, with release prints of 85 minutes in the States and 95 elsewhere. this DVD restores the 95-minute version. Cause for Alarm (1951) places film noir in the average American home, as a wildly jealous husband (Barry Sullivan) accusing his wife (Loretta Young) of having an affair and plotting his murder. Director Tay Garnet wrings the utmost tension from every possible situation, as he did in The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946). The result is a fast-paced B picture more impressive than most A's of the period."
