Starring: Porn murder mysteries have two needs to fulfill. The sex must be hot and we must care about who like who and why. Matt Zane's "Carnal Obsession" follows this worm path with mixed results. The sex is passable, the plot uninvolving. The tale is told in flashback as police investigate an apparent murder with numerous leads. The horny characters are played by Herschel Savage, Tony Tedeschi, Sydnee Steele (as a head shrinker!), Shayla LaVeaux, Steve Hatcher, Dolly Golden, Kerri Windsor and Lola.
The picture quality is fine for a low budget quickie, but the story structure is jerky. Like so many of these "sex mysteries," the sex and story are an awkward fit. Unlike such milestone as "Amanda By Night," even John Leslie's video classic "Going Down Slow," the sex is never fully incorporated into the plot. The story stops so Shayla and Kerri can engage in some pussy licking, then picks up when they're finished.
That means what erotic moments there are stem from the sex acts--like Shayla fingering herself as she watches Tony's steamy fuck of Sydnee--not from who these characters are.
Among the best scenes: The Sydnee/Tony pairing is hot (thanks to Steele), Steve Hatcher dominates Dolly's ass in another good scene, and Savage gives Shayla the same treatment. If you like anal, you'll find plenty to keep your crotch tight.
The plotting is labored. Frankly, we've seen this movie too many times before.
A The sex prevents this from being a complete loss.
