Talk Dirty to Me Description:

Now here is one that goes way back to before Rog was even watching porn. In fact, although I know the names, the only female I can even recall ever having any interest in from this entire cast is Dorothy LeMay. Still, a classic like this, which would have to rank right near the top of the most recognizable porn titles in history, and has such a stellar acting performance by one of X's great male leads, is simply a must if I am ever to consider my collection of ramblings, a decent compilation of adult film critiques.
Leslie plays the lead, Jack, a guy with a special relationship with his best friend, Lenny, (Richard Pacheco). Lenny and Jack spend their days bumming around, looking for "broads." The very forward, foul mouthed Jack would never pass in the PC 90's, but he has quite an effect on prim doctor Chris Cassidy. After she fixes up Lenny, Jack works his magic on her. With the door locked, Dr. Cassidy lets her hair down and can't get her mouth around his cock fast enough. As scenes seem to have been back then, this one is very fast paced and Chris is far from beautiful. Still, she puts out a great deal of effort, and fucks with genuine passion. Leslie is at his best, working everything he has to make this blonde doc squirm and cream. There is some dirty talk as they fuck, but it seems most of Jack's lip comes before he gets a woman into bed. He does pull out and shoot a small rocket into her open mouth. Wow a porn starlet ahead of her time.
Jessie St James is the overheated wife of traveling businessman Aaron Stuart. Before hubby can jet off, the pretty blonde makes sure to give him a fond send off. This quite fortunate, (And less than handsome) guy is treated to a long, slow blowjob that more than does the trick to get him at full mast. As Jessie lays back to get screwed, I am struck by two things. First of all, she is quite hippie for a smaller breasted woman. No way would porn powers that be let this happen today. Also, like the doc, she sports a big full bush. Wow, how things have changed. Watch her go as hubby slams her from behind. Now, this is some serious doggy style.
Later on, Jessie wanders down the beach into Jack's line of sight. He brags to Lenny that in three days, this high class blonde will be his. His approach this time is a little more clinical and involves spying on Jessie from a window across the street. The pacing of this movie is much different than you will see in 90's porn. It moves like a regular B film with sex thrown in rather than rushing from pop shot to pop shot. A "chance" meeting has Jack helping out around the house. The plan is in full effect now.
Juliet Anderson is busy showing Carl Regal a house and in a plot device right out of Spelling's Pacific Palisades, she shows him a lot more than the closet space. She spreads her pussy and talks dirty to him in hopes he will sign the contract. Problem is, Carl gets scared and runs away. With Jack there watching, Juliet is in for more than she bargained for. She puts up a fight, and the word "rape" is even bantered about (Something else you won't see nowadays.), before she gives in and lets Jack take everything Carl could not. Already past modern porn prime age, Juliet is nonetheless exotic and extremely boisterous as she gets fucked on the floor by her aggressive lover. She slides right up to suck his load from his dick, finishing off quite a nasty scene indeed.
Meanwhile, Jack's plan to get Jessie seems to be working. The slow, friendly approach has her eating out of his hand. He leaves her more that a bit jealous for a double date (In her own home.) with Lenny and a couple of cute bimbos, Shirley Woods (A young Sharon Kane) and Dorothy LeMay. Dorothy is really cute, the best looking hottie in the cast, and as always, she seems to be a willing slut. After the guys step out for beer, the formulate a plan. Shirley comes downstairs for a fling with stud Jack, while Dorothy is left upstairs with Lenny. Jessie has gone to bed rather depressed that her new friend has left her. Ever the bad boy, Jack brings Shirley into the doorway and fucks her while watching Jessie sleep. It's more kink and whispered dirty talk than actual hardcore action, but it is still fun to watch.
Jessie is now a bit fed up and wants Jack out. However, he sticks around, and all that playing hard to get has the proper Jessie begging to be talked dirty to. While they share a highly charged scene, the climax of the film, Spinelli chooses to intercut it with a pairing between Lenny and Shirley. While Shirley is teaching him how to please a woman, Jack is going nuts with Jessie. I just hate to see all the build up wasted by mixing it with a scene with vastly different pacing and emotion. Jack and Jessie fuck hard and fast, with tons of WELL DONE trash talking and the mixed in slow, sweet scenes of Shirley sucking Lenny's cock just bring the momentum to a grinding halt. This is really tragic since the big coupling here is quite hot, Leslie at his very best.
My two biggest disappointments in watching this classic film are that Dorothy LeMay, the one woman I wanted to see fuck, does not, and that after all that great build up to a volcanic ending, it is cut up with less than stellar action. Still, this is a must see for anyone who cares at all about the history of erotic cinema. On a purely sexual note, it is still a pretty hot tape, with some strong couples appeal and does boast some of the more attractive women from this time period.

Let's begin with a little masterpiece to warm things up. In past discussions I have repeatedly referred to Anthony Spinelli's exquisite "Talk Dirty To Me" (1980) as a shining example of how quality porn should be like. Indeed, instead of reading the megabytes of text volleyed by the esteemed Mr. Evanson in his quest for "FILMING a porn movie" :-) one could just watch this one.
The recipe is simple and effective: first and foremost, a spartan and trim plot premise. I believe that the main plot problem of recent "couples" pornos (Blake excepted, since he uses no plot in his lame films) is the tortuousness of their plots. Spinelli keeps it simple by using two devices that every viewer should be familiar with. One is the odd couple of misfits; slick, seductive Jack (John Leslie) and dull-witted, virgin Lenny (Richard Pacheco). For some the echoes of "Of Mice and Men" are rather clear, but even for those not familiar with the work, the device harkens to another, more fundamental premise: one guy gets all the girls, his sidekick hopes for his leftovers, consumed in a mixture of admiration and jealousy. The other plot device is even more basic: seduction. Simple, yet effective. Spinelli's development and handling of these concepts is masterful.
Of course Spinelli has the material to work with; a tremendous cast that includes some of the best actors ever to appear in porn, including the best ever male lead. That's John Leslie for you newbies :-). In my arrogant opinion, never have John's qualites as a "stud" been showcased better than in this movie (yes, Ron, even more than "F" :-)). It's not just the plumbing: every male mainstay can more or less hold his own in the hydraulics business. Furthermore, huge organs or cumming feats are never an item of interest for me - though Peter North is certainly an amazing character by any standards. In my book, a great male lead must have charm. There is nothing more annoying than seeing all those pretty ladies of porn pretending to swoon before Wayne Summers', Tony Montana's or -of course- Ron Jeremy's "glory". A -female- friend, annoyed at the large percentage of unappealing males in the biz, has hypothesized that this is being done on purpose, so that the viewer does not feel antagonized by an overly handsome actor. I don't know whether this is true; personally, I resent the "long-haired rocker dude" type and the "sweaty, creepy Ron-like" one equally. Give me John Leslie or R.Bolla any day; these guys have personality.
Much as it appears irrelevant, the above rambling does have its purpose for this particular review, since the central theme of the plot is the seductive powers of Jack and his wager that he can manage to seduce a beautiful married lady (the magnificently elegant Jessie St. James) in just three days. Some people think that these powers hinge exclusively on his tactic of overwheliming the lady target with a torrent of dirty talk (hence the title of the movie :-)). Personally I think that it is charm that is being showcased here, not just the device of talking dirty. It's not as if Spinelli is telling us that your average Fred Bloggs can make Jessie St. James quiver with passion by bombarding her with profanities. His point IMHO is that Jack is so charming, that not only can he get away with profanity, but he can use it to his advantage at the same time.
And John Leslie is pretty damn effective. He's so seductive he almost charmed the pants off me :-). Jessie is a damn fine actress too and perfectly manages the rather difficult task of showing the gradual yielding to his charms. Many on-screen seductions -and that holds for mainstream too- are botched by what I call the "activation energy effect". The lady is stone cold, no matter what the fella does and then, all of a sudden, she just becomes putty. Bull, I say. Women are people (though IMHO a different species of the genus homo:-)), and people don't behave like that. Read Christopher Hampton's exquisite theatrical adaptation of Laclos' "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" for a well-made seduction, and the pathetic melting of Turandot in Puccini's otherwise brilliant opera to see how it should NOT be done. Da Ponte's Don Giovanni lies somewhere in between I think.
As usual, I will not go into a scene-by-scene analysis of the sex scenes; in this particular case it WILL spoil the enjoyment since the anticipation of the Jessie's final surrender is the basis for all the eroticism. Of note however, is John's scene with that hippy girl :-), Chris Cassidy. Chris is, as usual, simply delightful: no makeup, circles under eyes (she's supposed to be a doctor -hence no makeup at work- at the end of a long day -hence the eyes), fucking incredible sexual presence. I think she has the armpits shaved though (awwwwww!!! :-)). Chris belongs to that select group of women, like Sharon Kane and Nina Hartley, whose primary appeal is not beauty per se, but personality. Sharon Mitchel has personality too, but she is IMHO somewhat challenged in the beauty department to be very appealing :-).
The Imperial verdict. You saw it coming. Flawless. Riveting and erotic, Spinelli's masterpiece can justly breathe along with its "Sex World" brethren that rarefied air of perfection.
