Starring:
If you transformed a romance novel into a hardcore video, the results would look similar to this, a film designed to stir womens' passion, but will make most men fidget. Looking for raunch? Forget it. Ashlyn Gere is a book editor who travels into the desert to locate author Eric Edwards (who also directed). His latest book intoxicates her, and when she finds his oasis, her mind wanders to numerous wet dreams. No wonder he's hiding out here.
Everything is above average, with Gere and Edwards delivering solid performances.
Edwards takes his time here, letting Gere's (and the viewer's) passions slowly simmer. When Gere finally gives over to them, there's a payoff, but it helps if you can relate to being swept away by horseman Mike Horner.
The Horner scene with Nina Hartley is fairly typical of the film's sexual style. It struggles valiantly to be a cut above and ripe with emotion.
It doesn't always work. Though hardcore pros like Peter North are on hand, the sex is generally restrained. Still, women will probably go for it.
A 7 for Gere.
