Inner Blues Description: "Club 64 is the typical `70s/early-`80s disco: the music is bad, the clothes are worse, but the sex is plentiful and carefree. On stage, young hopefuls dance the night away and hope to be noticed and wisked away to the bright lights while in the crowd, young hopefuls wait to be wisked away to the nearest bed for some carnal capering. On that stage is Taija Rae, a dancer waiting for her big break and Jerry Butler, her burnt -out musician boyfriend who is reaching the rocky bottom of a drug habit gone supernova. And through it all, they soothe themselves with wild sexual antics and feverish couplings. Taija is young and mesmerizingly beautiful here, and Butler is at the peak of his acting prowess."

Starring: Here's one to help you appreciate the acting talents of Jerry Butler. Whether playing horny big brothers or comic relief, Butler's ravenous sexual appetite often transferred into potent dramatic performances. In "Inner Blues" he's a coke-headed musician whose addictions to sex and drugs keeps injuring his relationship with stripper girlfriend Taija Rae.

The standard production quality is balanced by the solid performanes. This is a character-driven sex film, which may put-off those who like it gonzo.

Rae is a firecracker. Though frustrated by Butler's inability to get her off (cocaine will do that), she struggles to remain faithfull. Unfulfilled temptations always generate heat. That doesn't stop Butler from dabbling.

Taija and her fellow dancers do a scorching on-stage climax to the grinding sounds of a rock band. These same strippers spread their legs enough throughout the film to keep every crotch swollen.

The basic plot isn't very fresh. Aside from Taija's floudering relationship, shemust help bar owener Willian Margold recue his club from bankruptcy. That's where gals come in.
