Starring: When porn made the transition to home video, this was the film you recommended for the "couple" who wanted something a little gentle, and a story with which the wife could relate. Time has been very kind to this sweet, touching little gem. Jesie St. James and Eric Edwards are an otherwise happily married couple whose sex life has slid into tedium.

Everything is top notch with a solid screenply and believable performance by St. James and her pal Annette Haven.

As real as you'll find in any Paul Thomas production today. The emotions exposed are never overplayed, but honest and sympathetic. Sometimes we all forget to connect with our partners. Then our eyes wander, as Edwards' does in a superb fantasy sequence with Arcadia Lake.

The sex flows naturally from the situations. There's Jesie's aching shower masturbation scene, and her dreamy girl/girl fantasy while Haven is massaging her back. Each is born in frustration.

What most people won't like is the lack of raw-boned sexual action. Also, as an actor, Edwards is always a bit too stiff, especially against the vulnerable Jesie.

A 9, and in many ways a landmark film.
