Starring: This early shot-on-video production is a porn landmark in that it demonstrated how effectively video could be used to capture the carnality of pure sex. Directed by "Deep Throat" legend Gerard Damiano and produced by porn maniac Greg Dark, it abandons the traditional narrative for a series of short stories (told in flashback)about the denizens who prowled a strip club when it changed from a burlesque house to a modern dive. The cast includes such prime '80's stars as Buffy Davis, Keisha, Buck Adams, Robert Bullock, a young Tom Byron, Marc Wallice, Jeannette Littledove, and Krista Lane.
Like all early shot-on-video productions, the lighting is too bright and harsh. But Damiano compensates for this by directing the vignettes like short skits at a live sex show. The characters' motivations are as simple as the sex is hard.
This is a scorcher. As a plastered Rudolph Eckman tells this tales to Jack Baker, we watch Robert Bullock peep on his stripper girlfriend Buffy Davis and her girlfriend Keisha, which creates a voyeuristic high. His anger, unleashed in a sexual rage, makes the scene explode. Then there's an edgy Krista Lane as a Low-rent whore who once had dreams of movie stardom.
You can see early touches of Greg Dark's gonzo style. Jeannette Littledove, playing a dominating bitch, gets the tables turned on her by a frustrated Buck Adams, and Marc Wallice and Ron Jeremy play cops who bust open firecracker Ellie Rio (they don't get more gonzo than that trio).
If you can accept the video camera's awkwardness, you'll find little to dislike.
