For someone who obviously takes a lot of time working out the look of his movies, Michael Raven sure releases a lot of titles. This is one of the newer movies I've seen and stars Ava Vincent (TPSFKA Jewel Valmont) as well as Raven favorite Jessica Drake. It was actually Samantha Stylle who made me stop and take a look at this flick. After a few years working on her web site, Sam came back, shot a few movies and has vanished again. Sporting a shorter, dark hairstyle, she has smoked in the few scenes I've seen her in so far. Hopefully, she'll be able to bring some sexual heat to what I'm sure will be a highly stylized porn vision.

We start in a foggy room with Jessica Drake and Evan Stone in a cage. She's got this freaky fetish nurse thing on and some super hero eye make up. The cage and the huge fan in the background gives us some interesting lighting, but let's face it, Jessica squatting to suck Evan's big cock is what we're looking for here. You can see why this cute little babe fell for Evan, especially when he's drilling her deep from behind. I don't know why Ava is sitting there looking all disinterested. This is actually pretty well shot sex. Jessica looks especially fetching when she's squat fucking that long cock, showing us all she can take it to the base. Nice facial finish to a solid opening scene.

Ava wakes up to the real world, which of course, is nothing like her dreams. Her sleepless nights are causing concern, but hubby Randy Spears appears to be part of the problem. At work, she's just a mess and finally snaps at her boss Herschel Savage. The dialog here is pretty good and well delivered by Ava. She's on a roll, blasting him and challenging him to fuck her. (This will certainly send chills up and down the spines of the old guard, even as she says 'fuck me before I change my mind.') Randy should be worrying about his wife, but he has roving eyes and can't keep his hands off of sexy Samantha. Rejoining Ava, we get a very disturbing scene where she has a miscarriage. Great story vehicle I guess, but how erotic is a bloodstained sheet? (With chunks no less.) Follow that up with a magical mystery tour through another dimension and some thugs setting fire to her room and you have a really overwrought few minutes. This gives way to an odd three way between Evan, Samantha and Envy. They are all painted gold which is kind of interesting, but I'm still reeling from the last few minutes and can't really get into watching the FTD Florist banging his helpers. It's not a bad scene, by any stretch of the imagination. Both Envy and Sammy are quite vocal and there are some very beautiful shots. I just don't think is packs the same stroker value that some of the others have had.

Ava and Dale DeBone hook up in the final scene of the movie. It's in a locker room and Ava looks quite fresh and innocent. That is, until the gets on her knees and starts sucking. All the pigtails in the world can't hide tested oral skills. This well shot blowjob lasts for a long time and the camera moves around to capture the action from all angles. The pacing on this scene seems very different. Everything is running long, but I guess that just gives us more time to enjoy the eye candy. Dale nearly rubs a hole in his tongue licking her pussy before finally dropping the hammer on her little pookie. I like the little fetish cheerleader skirt and I have to say that Ava really shows some good energy in this scene. Since I haven't been all that wild about her in every movie, this scene is a pleasant surprise. Using the bench, they are able to elevate Ava's legs high in the air for a great shot of the anal. Dale finishes her off with a perfectly captured facial. Make no mistake, I was not expecting to like this scene as much as I did.

Like all Michael Raven features, this one is a little on the odd side. I'm not sure a miscarried fetus on a bloody sheet is something that should mixed in with good whacking material, but I'm funny like that. On the other hand, some of the sex scenes in this movie are quite well shot and very hot. Samantha Stylle adds a lot of heat with her great scene. I also liked the Ava scene at the end of the movie. It could have been cut a bit, but it's still one of her best to date. A bit too quirky at times, but nicely shot, this one is going to play well on cable and shows that Raven can shoot good sex when he really wants to. Still, there is a bit too much on the odd end of the scale for me to be completely enthusiastic about Limbo.

Starring: Michael Raven is back with another of his sensual wet dreams. Like his best (and worst) production, there's no real plot. Like "Dare," Raven taps into the sexual needs of another mysterious babe, in this case Ava Vincent, who escapes her dead-end lige through her nasty sexual expressions. At least I think that's what Raven's done. You can never be too sure.

You know the Raven style by now. Minimal dialogue, succulent women, kinkier than average sex and disconcerting breaks with reality.

Even when the sex takes a raunchy twist, it maintains its eroticism since Raven focuses on the heated desires of out central characters.

To his credit, Raven directs many of his scenes with women (OK, kinky women) in mind. He again uses Evan Stone as a masculine spector who services Jessica Drake in a cage leftover from some cheesy bondage video. Later, Stone dominates Samantha Style and Envy. All three are covered in body paints to give the scene an otherworldy feel. While the sex is hot, we could do without the paint. It all climaxes in an OK locker room scene where Dale DaBone opens Ava's ass.

But like most of Raven's work, you'll have a hard time sorting it all out. Consider the title. Of course, "Limbo" could also describe Raven's current creative state.
