When I recently re-watched "Pandora's Mirror", I suffered exactly this sort of disillusionment. For if one looks beyond the lavish sets and costumes, the robust and trim plot, and leading lady Veronica Hart's charisma, there is little real heat in this movie. The greatest gripe of course is that Veronica is only in a single sex scene, a mmf, and not a very well shot one at that. But even the other cast members -a cast including Tiffany Hart, Tiffany Clark, Kandi Barbour, Annie Sprinkle, Jamie Gillis, and Jerry Butler- are not having there best outings. I rest the fault entirely on the director's shoulders. Perhaps he was overly concerned with managing his huge budget. I don't know; what I can say is that it is advisable for first time viewers of this piece to leave their expectations at the door. "Pandora's Mirror" is undoubtedly a historically important and quite entertaining movie; it's most definetely however NOT a scorcher.

Starring: The notable stars are: Veronica Hart (Pandora) gives her usual excellent performance but alas, do to poor direction, editing and camera angles, even she cannot save this film.
Jamie Gillis (Peter) and Sondra Hillman (Liz) give the best performance of the film. There must have been a different director for their scene. Jamie rips into Sondra and she just wants more of him.
Annie Sprinkle plays a Queen of a sex club. Her scene is short but effective.
Marlene Willoughby plays Veronica Barrett, a film actress that is a sex vixen off camera. Her scene was also short, which made it ineffective.
The story line and rest of the cast follow: Veronica and Sondra play friends talking girl talk when they enter an old antique shop. Veronica spies and old mirror that is covered in the back of the shop. The shopkeeper (played by Frederick Foster) does not want Veronica to look at it, but she insists. She sees flashes of various people making love in the mirror. She is not really sure what she saw, but it sexually arouses her. When she returns to her apartment, she sees two bodybuilders (played by Jerry Butler and George Payne) and envisions having sex with them. To cool off, she takes a shower but this only makes her fantasize more about what she saw in the mirror and the two bodybuilders. The confused Veronica has to see the mirror again so she returns to the shop as it is closing, begs the shopkeeper to let her look at the mirror. He relents and lets her look at it warning her that the mirror can have ill-effects upon the viewer.
The mirror reveals the first encounter right after it was made, in the 1700's. Strangely enough, the shopkeeper is the one who made the mirror and gives it to his wife (played by Tiffany Clark) as a present. She wants to make love but he has to go into town on business. She starts to masturbate in front the mirror when 3 men pass by. While she sucks two of them off the third licks her pussy before fucking her. As with most the of the movie, the camera angles ruin what could have been a good scene. The shopkeeper then covers the mirror.
The next morning, Veronica is waiting impatiently for the shopkeeper to arrive to open the shop. When he arrives he warns her again about the effects of the mirror but she has to see more of it. The mirror now fast forwards to the 1920's. An talent agent gives the mirror to a famous movie star (played by Marlene Willoughby). Her husband (David Ruby) is an idiot, so she has sex with her Latin house-boy (Jack Houston). The scene is too short for whatever reason. The studio sends out a new make-up girl (Lacy Smith). Marlene wants to find out right away what Lacy is made of so she has Lacy eat her pussy. Then Lacy takes on David and the Chauffeur (Bill McKean). Again, what could have been a good scene has no electricity mainly due to the way it was shot. The shopkeeper then covers the mirror.
Veronica returns home when her boyfriend (Jamie Gillis) calls wanting to know what is going on with Veronica. She tells him she just does not have time for him right now. Not to worry about Jamie, Somdra is there and the highlight of the movie begins. Sondra sucks Jamie long and hard,then he gives her a rim job. Jamie them slams her only the way he can. His darker body against her white body is a great contrast. These two satisfy each other to the fullest.
The next morning, the anxious Veronica returns to the shop to see more of the mirror. The mirror now shows an event from the 1960's. A starlet (Heather Gordon) wants a role in a play and says she will do anything to get it. The star actress (Celeste Bon) wants to find out how far. They first have Heather play with a dildo, the stage manager (Ron Hudd) uses her as a toy. While this is going on, Heather and her assistant (Candy Barbour) get it on. This scene is very disjointed and weird music is being played. The only notable from this scene is that Candy has the biggest nipples I have ever seen. The shopkeeper then covers the mirror. She want to buy it but he will not let her. He does allow her to take it home for a couple of days while he is out of town. She gets it home and cannot wait to look into it. It now shows a scene from 1970's. An older gentleman (Frederick) is with a younger girl (Merle Michaels) and he takes her to a sex club. Merle is at first very tentative and uncomfortable about seeing all the sex. Then she sees Annie Sprinkle sucking two guys with great passion. When Annie stops, Merle starts where Annie left off. Merle takes both C**Ks at the same time while some starts eating her pussy. Then Ron Jeremy shows up and slams his big rod into Merle. The two men come on her face while Ron leaves his load on her belly. This could have been a great scene, but flashes of the other patrons having sex were mixed in and it made the scene confusing.
Veronica is addicted to the mirror. The two bodybuilders appear in the room with Veronica. She cannot wait to get her hands and mouth on their C**Ks. Again, what should have been a fantastic closing scene is ruined by the angles at which it is filmed.

They must have had an amateur director and camera crew on this film. These are good actresses and actors. It is evident that they had good scenes but they cannot overcome the way the film was shot and edited.

This film is very frustrating. Just when you are about to be aroused, the poor filming shows up and the scene and mood are ruined.

The scene between Jamie and Sondra is a keeper. I wonder if it was shot by someone else! Rarely do you see both people satisfy each other so fully. The story line is quite good with its twists and turns. Under the guidance of a good film maker, this movie had the potential to be a great film.

This is a Veronica Hart fans (which I am) will be disappointed. She and the rest of the cast deserved better results.
