Starring: I know some people have beaten up on this Henri Pachard "classic", specifically because, they believe, the sex has no snap. I say take another look. "Sexcapades" was part of an unofficial series about a director unhappy to be returning to porn. In this outing, Eric Edwards plays the lead and Sharon Mitchell is his angry somewhat prudish wife who hates his work. But when you're broke, you'll do anything for money. So when producer Lee Carroll asks, he responds. What makes this film work is its depiction of the drab side of the business. There's plenty of sex, but as Joanna Storm demonstrates at her audition, guys don't always cum on cue and that can make shooting porn a laborious task.

Superbly directed, Pachard captures the sight, sounds and ambiance with such assurance you wonder if this is a more truthful portrait than "Boogie Nights".

When the sex leaves the set, the film heats up. Sharon Kane's dildo fuck of Lee Carroll is a scorcher, and Edwards fuck of his maid, Mai Lin, captures the strain of a frustrated man about to stray.

But the best scene has Edwards coaching Tiffany Clark through the steamiest on-set scene. With Edwards in close shouting directions, it's like she's engaged in a heated threesome.

Maybe Pachard is too accurate? Some of the eroticism is dampened by unsexy way porn films are shot.

An 8. Definitely worth seeing for die-hard porn fans.
