Well, this should be interesting. Picking the top twenty five stars in adult film history is certainly no easy task. In fact, if you were to poll one hundred fans, you would be lucky if a handful of stars ended up on even a majority of ballots. Bill Margold and the Free Speech Coalition did the math for us, honoring the top twenty performers from the first quarter of a century of X rated cinema. Jill Kelly and Jim Holiday narrate the scenes and give us choice bits of info on the top performers of the blue screen. We have the choice of watching this compilation with either the original sound or the running commentary from Jim and Jill.

Jim and Jill start things out with a little prelude, setting things up. They tell us that historians and critics were asked to vote, and yet, was Rog asked? Basically, what we are about to watch is the list of the most influential names in porn history. While I am awed by Jim's knowledge of porn's past, I wish he was as comfortable on screen as he is in print. From time to time, the ad libs the are really stale.

We start out with Holiday's all time star, Marilyn Chambers in the famous pool table scene from 'Insatiable.' For anyone who hasn't seen this, and with all due respect to Holiday's banter to the contrary, this is a rape scene. Sure, it's a mild one, with the 'she says no, but means yes' Her co-star throws her down and takes what he wants. (Tip, if you chose the running commentary, lose it when the scene gets going, because this scene is too hot to miss.) Ever since the first time I saw this scene, I have found Marilyn Chambers to be so fucking hot, she nearly melts the screen. Eventually, her begging for him to stop becomes pleading for him to fuck her harder and faster. No matter what issues I may have later down this list, I can't really argue with Ms. Chambers at the top. This scene alone shows that she has a great body, beautiful face and fucks like a wet dream. She also sucks dick like few before or since, and hearing her beg for cum on her face is almost as hot as actually seeing it. Brilliant facial.

This leads right into the classic Marilyn scene with John Holmes. Fuck, that man had a monster cock. It takes an incredible woman to handle this took and it seems to be just what Ms. Chambers needs. I know it's a dream sequence, but I've never liked messing with the rhythm like this. The rest of the list isn't in order, so we are going to jump around a bit. Ginger Lynn is next in another incredible scene. From 'New Wave Hookers', Ginger takes on Tom Byron and Steve Powers (Who is apparently dead, something I don't remember reading anywhere.) This is one of the first movies I ever watched (over and fucking over) and from the moment Ginger struts into their dorm room, the heat is unbearable. Tom and Steve play such total dorks and Ginger just takes control. Missing in this abbreviated scene, is the incredible cocksucking. Instead we cut right to Ginger taking two cocks in her tiny frame, DPing before DP was commonplace, cementing her place in history. Now Jim is saying that his list is in order again. Number three is Seka, in a scene with Holmes and Jamie Gillis. I know that Seka has this huge following among the old schoolers, but I barely get the appeal. OK, the tits, I get. This woman had one serious rack, but is her face really that pretty? I have to really take my hat off for the effort it takes to handle two guys like John and Jamie. By the end of this scene, I may be more fond of Seka than I have ever been before. The double facial is pretty hot.

Annette Haven is one of the few old schoolers that I think is just a fucking knock out. She is so beautiful, she would be a stand out even by today's standards. With Constance Monet, both women look like main stream actresses. The scene is very soft, sensual appealing to people who like that sort of thing. Not for me, but Annette is fantastic.

Georgina Spelvin is next and has a short, rather silly scene from 'Devil in Ms. Jones 2.' It's really skipable in my book. However, next on the list is Ron Jeremy, and his first scene is with Tianna from 'Only Game in Town.' Even though Ron is the all timer, I love this scene for the sexy little blonde. Oh my, do we miss Tianna. Again the scene is cut short, but it's enough to make me run out and find a copy of this movie. Compare this scene with Ron's earlier work with Lilli Marlene and you can really appreciate the difference an attractive woman can make. Lilli might be a classic star, but wow she is not remotely attractive. (From the neck up.) She does take the length of Ron's rod up her ass, I guess that has to count for something.

Leslie Bovee does a three on one scene that is pretty interesting. This woman was a pretty fucking hot and seems to genuinely love being fucked into the next dimension. John Leslie and Rachel Ashley pair up together, and I'm not even sure which one of these performers is on the list. Does it really matter? The scene, from 'Every Woman Has a Fantasy' is super fucking hot. Joey Silvera gets to nail a pair of women in his scene. I think every guy on this list has gone on to become a successful director. (Except Holmes and Jeremy that is.) Veronica Hart was another very hot performer with a great body and even does some really impressive anal in this scene. Oh dear, Sharon Mitchell is up next. Well, at least now we know that even when she was young, she looked more like a man than most of her costars.

Sharon Kane is a woman who has grown more attractive in my eyes as she ages. She looks good in her g/g scene from long ago, but not nearly hot as she has become. There is enough strap on anal here to make even Jim Gunn proud. It's really funny to see Bunny Bleu in her original blonde, petite phase. Eric Edwards brings Bunny into the bedroom, and doesn't she look every bit as felonious as today's crop of young hotties. She was such a little hottie back then, a totally hot fuck and a dynamic performer. Nina Hartley and Vanessa Del Rio pair up to take on Mike Horner. Nina was a total hottie back then, but I can not, for the life of me, understand the appeal of Vanessa. With Vanessa around again, we get a chance to see Erica Boyer take on two guys. Always dynamic, Erica shines here. She is truly one of the unsung superstars in the history of X. Nina comes back, in a scene with a guy who also makes Holiday's list, Randy West. KC Williams is around for the ride in this rather hot scene from Nina's mid career period. (Which I like best.)

Jeanna Fine is up next, and sadly, she is paired with Brigette Aime. At least we get Jeanna talking dirty to the camera. This is like some anal sex workout tape. I'll have to check out 'Bunmasters' to see just how often the explosive Ms. Fine gets her pooper packed. Amber Lynn rates two scenes and I have no problem watching this woman more than once. First, the squares of with Tom Byron in a very hot scene. What a pretty pussy this woman has. The second scene has Amber doing a double pussy penetration from 'Devil in Ms Jones 3'. Peter North and Marc Wallice rub units inside Ms. Lynn, and while DPP has no appeal for me, Amber is still smoking. In her heyday, was there a better face/body combination? Tracy has to relieve Peter's stress and does so with class and style. Making it a trifecta, Peter North comes back with list maker Christy Canyon in a scene from 'Black Throat.' This is a side of Christy a lot of you might not have seen, since this movie was pulled after the Traci Lords scandal. Christy is dominant and so totally sexy it's incredible. On a personal note, before there was Kaitlyn Ashley, before there was Tori Welles, before there was Candy Evans, there was Christy Canyon. My very first favorite porn star. You can see why here, great face, incredible tits, awesome body and back then, enough heat to melt a monitor. Finally, Peter makes another appearance, with Victoria Paris and Tori Welles from my all time favorite porn film, John Leslie's 'Chameleon.' This scene is amazing, with both women at their best, and the cumshot? Simply one of the very best ever. Finally, Holmes pairs up with Nancy Suiter. You want to talk beauty? This blonde is super pretty and can take the massive rod of John C, so why not keep her on the under appreciated list.

As the finale, Jill Kelly stars with Ton Byron in her first anal scene. Nothing like having the hostess fucked in the ass to end a show on a fine note. (Remember that the next time Daisy Fuentes hosts some MTV thing.) While a number of the scenes are cut short, there is enough sexual action to make this a fine collection of smut. However, this works best as an interesting collection of some of porn's biggest stars. Marilyn, Ginger and Christy all show why they are superstars. While not pure porn, by any stretch of the imagination, this is a must see for any lover of adult cinema.

Starring: Too numerous to mention here, suffice it to say that anyone who was (and still is) anyone in adult porn is featured in this entertaining and informational video. Some of the highlights for me were hearing the comments upon seeing John Holmes in action again ("There's no one today that even comes close to his size" and 'Oh my God. . . ') as well as the timeless natural beauty of some of the stars in the '80's, who truly enjoyed their trade and acted out of desire and not so much for money. Nice natural tits abound and words like 'naughty' or 'frisky' are not heard these days in describing performances like they are here.

This was a compilation and the scenes were introduced thanks to the comments of Jim Holliday and Jill Kelly. Most of their banter were nice tidbits about the stars and their place in the porn world. Some of the scenes lagged when there wasn't much to talk about (as in the preferences of seeing shaved vs unshaved bungholes) but for the most part, Jim added his expertise from years in the biz and Jill was (unfortunately) relatively quiet in her role as color commentator, especially during her own anal scene. But I do know what an 'Up and Under' is now. .

Very nice. This is not a raincoat or even a couples film per se. It IS a nice review of all the stars in famous scenes that reminds me of looking through an old yearbook. Most of the stars stand the test of time and were well ahead of the curve in terms of erotic and even naughty sex. It may not be a keeper in most collections, since anyone who collects would already have these flicks, but most all scenes were very watchable despite the cuts from the original.

I happened to agree with almost all of the choices, and Roger's comments above are right on the mark. My favorite actresses (Amber, Ginger, Christy, and best of all,Annette) are as good as I remember and the scenes jump off the screen as some of the best ever. There are some great takes from Jill (what a dish she is, her scene blisters!)For example she talks about her first attempt at a DP but reveals the males backed out due to being homophobic. I always wondered about that kind of thing. . .

Its a matter of preference, but I thought the hosts were way too complimentary of Ron 'Hedgehog' Jeremy, and the part about male porn stars picking up chicks outside the porn industry made me scramble for the 'mute' button. I also wish we'd have seen Annette and Amber Lynn doing the oral thing, both of whom were legendary in this craft, but their scenes speak for themselves regardless.

This is a nice change of pace from most videos I have rented. If you are looking for some information behind the scenes, as well as some running cum-intary from two insiders of the porn world, then you will enjoy. I'd give it an 8 for the historical aspects alone. Many of the stars were in their prime in the '80's, which should be a wake up call of sorts for today's directors who have lost the edge in finding willing women and men who are 'hard out of the pants. '
