This is the much anticipated sequel to Michael Ninn's "Latex." The highly decorated, highly stylized tale of future sex is considered by many critics to be Ninn's best. Though think it sometimes gets in the way of the sex, Ninn's technical brilliance is second to none. The DVD format is perfect for showing off the brilliant art direction, computer generated special effects and visual style that he brings to the table. Many of the same performers have been brought back to continue the story of Malcom Stevens and the madness that haunts him.

As we open, Stevens is locked away in a mental institution. Jeanna Fine comes to him in a stunning scene. Jeanna is in black and white, all done up in a Marilyn Monroe wig, fucking herself with a glowing red dialog. She talks dirty while fucking herself which is quite hot, but it's the amazing visual style that stands out here. That is, until Jeanna starts sucking dick. Once she has her lips around a cock, it's all about sexual heat. Then, all of a sudden, it's not Dough fucking her, but some other guy (John Decker). This sex scene is brilliantly edited, but it's almost overkill for a porn. Rapid shots of her pussy being fucked are mixed with other Marilyn-type images and other shots that make for a visually stunning montage, but it's far from your standard raincoater video. With Dough back in the driver's seat, Jeanna takes a hard anal pounding, spouting white hot sex talk the whole time. In full color and again in black and white, the two Jeanna's both take facials, closing out an odd and wonderful scene.

Ona Zee is the doctor in charge of Malcolm and against the recomendations of the rest of her staff, perscribes elecro-shock to zap him back into reality. Her plan backfires, when grabs a nurse who stands over him. (Shayla LaVeaux.) She ends up in her own dream state where things are about to get really interesting. A pair of gargoyles come to life and find her flesh far too tempting to resist. Again, this is a visually stunning scene that starts out sadly with slow motion sex, thus killing most of the erotic heat generated from sexy Shayla taking a fat dick in her mouth. The creatures lay a serious fuck down on the petite blonde, but the quick cut editing, and echo chamber sound make it more technically fascinating than it is sexually hot. Even the anal and double facial are not as strokeable as they should be.

Stevens is now able to communicate with the doctors through a huge video monitor and he starts making demands. If he is not released, then he will keep Shayla forever. This calls for some drastic measures and in a scene right out of an old western, they bring back Dr. Mangrove (Tyffany Million) the doctor Stevens drove mad in the first film. She is now in the business of tracking down escaped loons and agrees to go into the alternative world to bring back the girl and Stevens. (Yeah, I know, it's a little heavy for a porn script isn't it?)

In that other world, Stevens enjoys the life he has. Surrounded by women in matching maid's outfits and short black wigs, he enjoys a graphic display of lesbian love between Shayla and Sunset Thomas. These two blonde superstars heat up the screen together. Sunset even whips Shayla's pussy, forcing her to count out each blow while holding her thighs apart to receive her punishment. Even if this is not my usual cup of tea, I would be lying if I didn't say this scene had me watching from start to finish. They share a two headed dildo and both women seem to genuinely enjoy getten each other off.

Taking her two assistants, John Decker and Peter North, with her, Mangrove makes it to the other side. However, as soon as she gets there, she is naked between her two assistants, having her mouth and pussy stuffed with cock. Tyffany was always a hot performer and she is perfect here, slapping Peter's cock against her face and offering her sweet hole to Decker like she can't wait to feel him slam fuck her. Even with the style still weighing down the stimple smut value, Tyffany shines as the prefect slut fucking and being fucked as if her life were hanging in the balance. A hot DP leads to a sadly slow motion double facial. It's hot, no doubt about it.

To track down Stevens, Mangrove must first make her way to the court of a rather strange character, a fat, bald man who is surrounded by mastrubating women. (Tricia Yen, Caressa Savage, Rebecca Lord and others.) The multi woman masturbation is highlighted by Caressa who takes a huge fake cock into her pussy. The rest of it is stylish, but too quick cut for my tastes. In fact, the musical number that follows just picks up where this madness ends and makes this an even stranger ride. Origianal? You bet. Technical brilliant? For sure. Remotely erotic? Not from where I sit, but that's just me.

The search is going well, but the end up sidetracked a bit when the two assistants double fuck Kia as Tyffany watches nearby, masturbating right along with the fat guys's other women. There is too much slow motion and I am far more interested in Tyff than in the chick being double donged, so I am rather ready to move on to the next scene.

Before he can release Shayla, Stevens has to make her the center of a ceremony. Basically, it's a fetish laden, lesbian grope grope with leather hoods, white face make up and silver dildos. Though not without appeal, this scene is just way to odd for me. Other than Shayla taking butt plugs in her ass and getting a huge fake-cum shower, I didn't find any reason to stop and ponder self gratification. However, when she is done, Shayla gets a one on one with Stevens that starts off on the right foot. Anytime we get to look down into this woman's big eyes while she sucks cock, it's a stroke worthy moment to be sure. This is arguably the most straight forward sex scene in the film, and very near the best as well. Great low angle close up as Dough goes up her ass and starts pumping away in long, hard strokes.

There is no doubt that DVD is the right format for this film. Like 'Latex' the art direction and vistual style of 'Shock' is second to none. In these areas, Ninn is nothing short of a genius. Where he sometimes falls short, for my taste anyway, is when this style overtakes the sexual heat. That happens more often in this film than in Latex, which is unforunate. Jeanna Fine, Shayla LaVeaux and Tyffany Million all turn in scenes that are so hot they fight through the layers of 'art' and deliver hard-core smut. The script is a rather out there, but it wraps up the story quite nicely. Dough and Million do a nice job with their dialog. Sunset and Shayla put on a great g/g show and the gargoyle scene is one of the very best I have seen Shayla do, and it just edges out Jeanna's Maryilyn open for second best in the movie. Top sexual honors go to Ms. Million who just her world rocked by North and Decker. Even with these sexual highlights, the style too ofetn overtakes th sustance, making this an adult movie not for everyone. If you like the Ninn style or better yet, if you just want to see the second half of 'Latex', add this one to your must own list.

The production values were very good. Ninn is amazing in his ability to produce such interesting films.

The movie was very high in eroticism. Everything in the movie relates to its erotic theme. There are many kinky scenes in the movie that greatly add to the eroticism as well.

The best part of the movie, for me, was where Tiffany Million does a DP and a facial from Peter North and another friend. The makeup and editing of the film are also amazing.

The movie jumps a lot. During sex scenes, it will flash to other scenes very quickly, then back to the original scene; however, this feature is also what makes the movie so different than any others I have seen.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give this film a 9. It is very exciting and I enjoyed every minute of the movie.
